Checking and Cleaning the Charcoal Cannister
1. Remove canister
2. visually inspect
3. check for clogged filter and stuck check valve
a. using low pressure compressed air, blow into the tank pipe and check that the
air flows without resistance from the other pipes
b. blow into the purge pipe and check that the air flows without resistance from
the other pipes.
If problem is found, replace canister.
4. Clean filter in canister: clean the filter by blowing 3 kg/cm2 (43psi) air
into the pipe to the outer vent control valve, while holding the other upper
canister pipes closed. Note: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WASH THE CANISTER; NO ACTIVATED
CARBON SHOULD COME OUT.
5.Install canister.
If you don't have the picture, here are the names of the pipes: on top, the
purge pipe is the center one, the tank pipe is the small pipe on the outside;
when cleaning canister, you blow 43psi into top large pipe while holding tank
and purge pipes closed and air should come out the bottom.
I have not done this myself, so let me know how it turns out! Good luck.
