Transmission Transfer Case Oil Problem
Some people report that if the seal goes bad between the transmission and transfer case the all the gear oil can be pumped into the transmission leaving the transfer case dry...
If you have undid the fill plug of the transmission and gear oil came pouring out, you may be a victim of this problem. Instead of pulling the tranny etc. Man-a-Fre has come up with an interim solution... They make a hose that connects the filler holes of the transmission and transfer case. This seams to rectify the problem but in my opinion is a short term solution.
The hose can be found at man-a-fre or you can use the below information to source your own:
"John try a local hydralic hose maker, i did and they had the fittings and
hose. they are 18mm thread they should have them. if not the company that makes
them is Parker Hannifin corporation, tube fittings division, 3885 gateway blvd.
columbus, ohio 43228. its part #8M18C80MXS, i dont know if they have a web site,
they go by Parker Fluid Connectors. it cost half what man a fre wants. hope this
helps."
